Paper Objects

This research project is investigating the viability of paper as a spatial material and visual aesthetic.

3D shape >1" - A large hurdle with paper is it's inability to establish sufficient hydrogren bonds once the thickness approaches 1". Through my research and the development of specialized moulds, the following were the first successful results from those experiments.

Paper Panels - Early experimentation involved tests in color, texture, forming, layering, compression, drying and heat. Early panels were done at small format 5.5" x 8.5" with anywhere from .25-1" in thickness. This culminated with a 1.5 x 3 foot panel to test as a proof of concept for structural stability.
